The official 24h Colosseum, Roman Forum and Palatine ticket is the sensible starting point. It currently costs €18 for full entry and includes one timed entrance to the first and second levels of the Colosseum, plus one entrance to the Roman Forum, Palatine, and Imperial Fora archaeological area.
It does not include the Arena Floor, Underground, or Attic. That is not a flaw. From the standard visitor levels, you still get the famous interior view and can look down into the exposed Underground. Buy this ticket when price matters, you enjoy visiting independently, or you are unsure whether special access would add much for you.
